Sky Sport Italia journalist Manuele Baiocchini suggests Milan are not entirely happy to meet Roma in the Europa League quarter-finals as the Rossoneri wanted to avoid ‘Liverpool and an Italian club.’

Milan and Roma will meet in the Europa League quarter-finals. The first leg will be played at San Siro on April 11, and the second leg will be at the Stadio Olimpico the following week.

Sky Sport Italia correspondent Manuele Baiocchini said Milan players and staff members followed the draw live at Milanello after returning from Prague, where they beat Slavia Praha 3-1 on Thursday night.

According to the journalist, Milan would not be entirely happy with the draw as there were “two things” they wanted to avoid: “Liverpool and an Italian club.”

The other Serie A club, Atalanta, were paired with the Reds who are seen as the favourites to win the Europa League this season.

Ex-Milan striker and current brand ambassador Daniele Massaro told Sky Sport Italia from Nyon that the Rossoneri were aware they could meet another Italian club, but at least they “know” Roma well.

  1. Roma are slight favourites. They’ve reached 2 european finals in a row and so have more experience in this competition and in 2 legged ties over the past few years.
