Several Serie A stars are available for relatively low fees this summer and Lorenzo Bettoni names five who can be signed for €125m combined.

Serie A clubs are dealing with financial restrictions and contracts expiring across the following 12 months, so some of them must sell this summer to avoid seeing their stars leave for nothing in one year.

For example, Claudio Lotito’s asking price for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was more than €100m only one year ago, but with the Serbia international having only one year left in his contract at the Stadio Olimpico, the Biancocelesti are ready to listen to offers in the region of €40m.

Several sources claim Inter and Juventus are among the Serie A clubs interested in SMS, but Premier League giants Manchester United are also monitoring the 28-year-old.

SMS could be one of the best bargains in Serie A this summer, especially considering that he contributed to 19 goals in 47 appearances with Lazio this season, netting 11 times and adding eight assists.

Milinkovic-Savic is Juventus’ primary target if Adrien Rabiot leaves. The France international’s current deal at the Allianz Stadium runs out on June 30 and the Bianconeri have offered him a new one-year contract.

Adrien Rabiot

Rabiot was arguably Juventus’ best player this season and his 11 goals and six assists in 48 appearances suggest he has finally fulfilled his potential. Signing him on a free transfer would be a great move for most top clubs in Europe, but of course, Juventus hope he will stay for one more season.

The Bianconeri will be heavily involved in negotiations this summer as they must strengthen the team, but also balance the books and lower their wage bill.

Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa’s future is uncertain with several Premier League clubs reportedly interested, including Liverpool and Newcastle. There have been mixed reports on Juventus’ asking price for the ex-Fiorentina winger, but most media agree that an offer in the region of €40m would be considered by the Serie A giants who registered a loss of over €200m in 2021-22.

Marcelo Brozovic

Moving away from Turin, fresh Champions League Finalist Marcelo Brozovic could leave Inter for €20-25m. The Nerazzurri have prioritised his sale to avoid the departures of Nicolò Barella and Federico Dimarco, who has been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The Croatia international seemed untouchable only one year ago, but Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s consistent debut season at the Stadio Meazza has persuaded Beppe Marotta to listen to offers for Brozovic who signed a new deal until 2026 in March 2022.

The Serie A giants have received a proposal from Saudi club Al-Nassr, but €15m is not enough for the Nerazzurri.

Paulo Dybala

Last but not least, Roma‘s best player in 2022-23, Paulo Dybala, has an incredibly low release clause. Actually, he has two. One’s worth €12m and is valid for clubs outside Serie A, while Italian sides can secure his signature for €20m.

If any club activate Dybala’s clause, Roma can make an offer to raise his salary and keep him at the Stadio Olimpico.

Both clauses are surely appealing, especially for a player who scored 18 goals and delivered eight assists in 38 appearances last season. La Joya joined Roma on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, signing a three-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico.
