Lecce secured their Serie A status this season, but will be transformed, as coach Marco Baroni has left, along with Lorenzo Colombo and Wladimiro Falcone, while there is a bidding war for Morten Hjulmand.

The Salentini earned promotion by winning the Serie B tournament in 2021-22 and held their place in the top flight with a 16th-place finish.

However, today the club announced via a statement that attempts to negotiate a new contract with Baroni had failed.

He has therefore been released and is reported to be in talks with both Hellas Verona and recently relegated Spezia.

Players are on their way out too, as Lecce took up their options to buy striker Colombo from Milan and goalkeeper Falcone from Sampdoria, only for their parent clubs to activate counter-options to bring them back to base.

Captain Hjulmand is expected to be next out the door, with the likes of Fiorentina, Milan, Roma and Borussia Dortmund all hoping to pick up the Denmark international.
