Ralf Rangnick’s refusal to ask Cristiano Ronaldo if he’s happy in Manchester suggests some discontent following his departure from Juventus last summer.

The German tactician recently revealed to the press that he ‘didn’t ask if Ronaldo is happy in Manchester’, focusing only on the Portuguese star’s fitness and availability for the Red Devils’ upcoming matches. This suggests that the former Real Madrid forward isn’t particularly content in the North West on England.

It’s fair to say that Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United has not gone as planned. Many fans suggested that the Red Devils were one of the winners of last summer’s transfer window after they brought in Raphaël Varane and Jadon Sancho alongside the Portuguese forward, but disappointing results and painful performances have brought more pain than pleasure to the supporters.

‘Cristiano Ronaldo always on the run, Juventus don’t miss him’

Whilst Ronaldo’s time in Turin wasn’t as simple as planned, with the team losing domestic dominance and failing to put up a respectable Champions League challenge, his teammates still performed well and he was not as heavily criticised as he now is in England.

The Portuguese forward put up significantly better numbers in Turin as well; in his last full season at Juventus, Ronaldo averaged 0.93 goals per 90 minutes, 0.51 goal-creating actions per 90 and 1.93 shots on target per 90. In comparison, this season with Manchester United his stats are 0.44 goals per 90, 0.39 goal-creating actions per 90 and 1.23 shots on target per 90.

Juventus have now seemingly booked their place in next season’s Champions League and could even launch a late title challenge, whilst Manchester United sit 5th in the Premier League table and seem destined to miss out on a top four finish, being one point behind an Arsenal side who have three games in hand.

  1. Amazing how such poor decisions continue to be made by Clubs. I’m not sure if Ralf even wanted an overaged Ronaldo on his team or its was forced on him by the Management. Anyone with brains will know that just because you were good at one team doesn’t guarantee the same with a different team, players and chemistry. And this is especially true the older a player is know matter how great he was in the past. Adaption, the body and mentality are slower the older we get.

  2. Had Ronaldo stayed there’s zero chance Juve would have signed Vlahovic. We’re much better off. I think most of the fanbase and the locker room are happier that he’s moved on.

  3. If Ronaldo had stayed there’s zero chance Juve would have signed Vlahovic. I think the fanbase and the locker room are happier that he is gone.

  4. Bring him back to juv, and throw Donnarumma on that wagon as well. Juv is the statue of liberty, bring us your meek and mild.

  5. When Man u took him away from us, I told my friend who’s a United fan that they have taken away Juve’s number one problem. No disrespect to Cr7 though.

  6. @InterFan75 & @Viktor what utter nonsense. This is not juve’s season, they would’ve not gone anywhere nor will they they go anywhere at present, they’re lucky to scrape by and collect a 4th place

  7. My bad, I meant Milan is first in this case. @Milanwizz, 2 names, Allegri and Ronaldo and scudetto for Juve would be guaranteed. Maybe Vlahovic is better now but Juve lost many points because of missing Ronaldo.

  8. Disagree, Allegri is not at fault for Juve’s poor midfield. Juve started the season with Ronaldo, we all saw how that panned out. Ronaldo is past his prime as I see it, he is no longer what he used to be.

  9. Juve have NOT booked their place in the UCL yet! Do not get complacent. Atalanta have a game in hand, Roma and Lazio and even Fiorentina are not far behind. Bad results, even draws will put everything in jeopardy.
As for CR7, I was so impressed with his skills and shooting at Juve (one of the strongest mental players I have ever seen), but so disappointed with his arrogant and selfish attitude. I am sure that upset the team balance.

  10. He doesn’t regret it because I’m fairly certain he’s insane (or at least so deluded due to ego that it borders on insane).
But a normal person would regret it. It wasn’t working out like everyone thought it would, but it was so much better than the current absolute dumpster fire he’s in.

  11. Boy does he have a great PR team. He was a good player throughout his career, but his best skill has been media management and that’s how he’s considered one of the best of all time! When in fact, there have been many better players than him in his own generation

  12. Ronaldo left Juve at the very end of the transfer market. He was waiting to see what Juve would do and Juve bought Locatelli. This signalled no desire to genuinely improve the team since we needed a creative midfielder like Modric. So he left. As Del Piero said, a player who scores you 100+ goals in 3 seasons isn’t the problem. The midfield is still a huge issue which prevents Juve from being more attacking. Allegri has this to work with and he isn’t stupid. He’s not Zeman who’d go all out attack, entertain the fans and then lose 3-2 or 4-3 every game.

  13. With his insane salary there is no way we are able to afford Dusa.
So an almost 40 year old vs Vlahovic?? I think we’re good as is. Obrigado cristiano but time for mls 😂😂😂
