Lucas Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur reveals the former Fiorentina star has an agreement to join Gennaro Gattuso at Valencia, but Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants the midfielder to stick around for the pre-season.

The Uruguay international failed to make his move to Fiorentina permanent and is now looking for a new club where he can get more playing time.

He has been linked with Roma and Juventus, with his agent claiming last week that Torreira would like to stay in Serie A, where he scored five goals last season.

Torreira has recently revealed that he has held talks with Roma boss José Mourinho.

However, there is a new option for the player’s future given that his agent Bentancur has claimed Valencia have an agreement with the former Sampdoria man.

“We have an agreement in principle to bring Torreira t Valencia. Today we have a crucial meeting with Arsenal,” he told 100% Deporte.

“Arteta would like to keep the player for the pre-season, but Gattuso also wanted Torreira at Napoli. I had requested his signing to Fiorentina, now we have to see what Arsenal will decide.”

Gattuso has already signed Samu Castillejo from Milan and is interested in Napoli winger Matteo Politano who is pushing to leave the Stadio Maradona after one season under Luciano Spalletti.
