It’s the battle of the Giallorossi on Sunday afternoon and these Roma vs. Lecce predictions unsurprisingly favour the home side. The win over Inter last weekend provided a much-needed boost for Jose Mourinho’s side, who have been inconsistent this season.

Roma vs. Lecce odds

  1. – Roma to win – 7/17
  2. – Lecce to score under 1.5 goals – 3/19
  3. – Roma to keep a clean sheet –  10/11
  4. – Tammy Abraham to score anytime – 21/20
  5. – Paolo Dybala to score last – 15/4

Roma welcome Lecce to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday looking for back-to-back victories in Serie A for the first time in six weeks. The hosts sit sixth in the league table but match day nine could prove a valuable opportunity to climb in the standings as four of the top seven play each other.

Lecce have also impressed in recent weeks, losing just one out of their last six games. Unfortunately for Marco Baroni’s side, a run of four comparatively easy games comes to an end with this match. Despite having successfully pulled off a draw away to Napoli already this season, Sunday’s fixture may be one step too far with the hosts our tip to take the win.

One major area of concern for the away side is their difficulties in scoring goals. With seven games gone this season, Lecce have scored more than one goal only once – in a win over Salernitana. Given that the Salentini failed to score against Torino, they are averaging one goal per game with a bet on the visitors to score under 1.5 goals our tip for this weekend.

A lack of goal scoring output is of particular concern as their weekend hosts have been particularly effective at shutting out mid-table opponents. Mourinho’s side have three clean sheets already this season and will have an eye on another this weekend.

Furthermore, Roma have no shortage of attacking options. Jose Mourinho decided to drop Tammy Abraham last weekend, perhaps with an eye on Thursday’s Europa League fixture, but also to add an extra body in midfield. The manager is unlikely to be so conservative on Sunday however and, having benefitted from a rest, Abraham is favourite to score anytime.

Even so, the English forward has not been in the best form of late and is without a goal in his last three. Instead, it is Paolo Dybala who has taken on the goalscoring burden and leads the Giallorossi charts with four strikes to his name. There are suggestions that the former Juventus man may miss the weekend game with a calf injury. But should he be fit to feature from the bench, a bet on Dybala to come on and score against tired legs could well pay off.

Roma team news

Jose Mourinho took the controversial decision to drop Tammy Abraham for last weekend’s win and it will be interesting to see whether the Englishman starts on Sunday. Midweek action in the Europa League will also impact the manager’s decision making, with Paulo Dybala potentially out injured. Rick Karsdrop and Georginio Wijnaldum are both still sidelined.

Lecce team news

Marco Baroni is unlikely to make many changes to the team that started last weekend, with Assan Ceesay potentially starting up front ahead of Lorenzo Colombo. Antonino Gallo was forced off last weekend with injury but should return to start on Sunday afternoon. If not, Giuseppe Pezzella is expected to step in.
