Lazio have officially announced the arrival of Luca Pellegrini from Juventus, who re-joins the Biancocelesti on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy under certain conditions.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at the Stadio Olimpico, making seven appearances in Serie A under Maurizio Sarri.

The former Roma academy graduate, who was born in the capital, is said to be a life-long Lazio supporter, which is one of the main reasons he was so keen to return to the club for a second spell.

This will be Pellegrini’s fifth loan spell away from Juventus since joining from Roma in 2019, having temporarily turned out for Cagliari, Genoa, Eintracht Frankfurt and Lazio over the course of the last four seasons.

Pellegrini’s signing comes a day after the arrival of 21-year-old Nicolo Rovella, who has also joined Lazio on loan from Juventus with an obligation to purchase if certain conditions are met.

Lazio get their 2023-24 Serie A campaign underway on Sunday with a visit to Lecce, kicking off at 19:45 UK time.
