Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout could return to France for Olympique Marseille, as negotiations are progressing well, while Milan and Juventus look elsewhere.

He fell down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho’s debut season and has been told to seek another club this summer.

According to Footmercato, negotiations with Marseille are progressing well and the Ligue 1 side are the new favourites for his signature.

It would only be a loan with option to buy for the player who is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until June 2024.

Milan were also linked, but they seem to be back in the running for their first choice, Renato Sanches of LOSC, who has still not finalised a transfer to PSG.

Meanwhile, Juventus are no longer seeking a player of Veretout’s profile after news Paul Pogba will only be out of action for five to six weeks following a knee injury.

Above all, Veretout wants playing time and visibility to earn a place in the 2022 World Cup squad with France.
