Milan star Rafael Leao doesn’t start for Portugal against Switzerland and the same is true of Cristiano Ronaldo who begins on the bench.

Leao hasn’t started any of Portugal’s four games in Qatar so far, scoring one goal as a substitute in their debut in the competition against Ghana on November 24.

This time, he’ll be joined on the sidelines by his most famous compatriot: former Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo. The ex-Bianconeri forward starts the Round of 16 clash with Switzerland on the bench.

Benfica’s Gonçalo Matias Ramos gets the nod in the attacking trident along with Joao Felix and Bernardo Silva.

Manchester United have recently terminated Ronaldo’s contract while Leao will hold talks with Milan to extend his stay at the club beyond 2024.

According to reports in Italy, he is willing to extend his contract at San Siro.

Leao has scored one goal in 14 appearances with Portugal, making his senior debut on October 2021.
