Inter boss Simone Inzaghi urges his players to forget about the derby and switch the focus to José Mourinho’s Roma.

Tomorrow, the Nerazzurri host Mourinho’s Roma at the Stadio Meazza for the second time this season. Their first Coppa Italia meeting ended in a 2-0 win for the defending Serie A champions in February. Inter have qualified for the Coppa Italia Final following a 3-0 victory against Milan on Tuesday.

“This week is so important. The victory against Milan has boosted our self-confidence, we’ll play another final and this is very important,” Inzaghi said at a press conference.

“We had never lost confidence, we had collected less than we deserved. A month is remaining and there are many games to face in a serene way.

“We know that we’ll face one of the best teams in the league, with an excellent coach who we all know. He is doing really well at Roma, and we’ll need great attention. It’s a crucial game for us.”

Joaquin Correa assisted his compatriot Lautaro Martinez for Inter’s second goal on Tuesday night. Could he start against Roma tomorrow?

“He played a great game, like his teammates,” said Inzaghi.

“As of today, everyone is available, except Vidal, who suffered an ankle injury in the derby. The starting midfielders have played a lot, but Vidal, Gagliardini and Vecino have been training really well and will be helpful. Hopefully, Vidal will return to action before what we expect.

“We must forget about the Derby because tomorrow we face an in-form team. We need to be determined and be aware that every team will create trouble for us before the end of the season.”

Was the victory against Juventus the turning point in Inter’s campaign?

“It was an important game that came at an important moment for us. The lads are working well. We have raised the expectations, but this must give us the confidence to end the season in the best way.”

Robin Gosens scored his first Inter goal on Tuesday, could he start his first game tomorrow?

“Luckily, I can coach both Gosens and Perisic, they are two great footballers and they feel well. They have already played together against Verona for 20 minutes. Perisic could even play on the right, but I also have Dumfries and Darmian who are having a great season.”

Inter are two points behind table leaders Milan, but have a game in hand and would jump to the top of the table if they win tomorrow and next week’s rescheduled fixture against Bologna.

  1. Mourinho would never cost his beloved Inter the title. They’ll be conveniently distracted by Europe. Happy to lose money on the contrary but I’m better on Inter this time.
