Inter boss Simone Inzaghi defends referees after recent controversies involving the Nerazzurri: ‘Serie A officials are among the best in the world.’

The defending Serie A champions beat Milan 3-0 in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Tuesday, but the Rossoneri were furious after seeing a goal of Ismael Bennacer was disallowed for offside in the second half. Stefano Pioli publicly complained after the final whistle, but Inzaghi has refused to enter the dispute.

Inzaghi warns Inter about Roma and Mourinho

“We are lucky because have the best referees in the world,” the Inter coach said at a press conference today.

“Of course, they can make mistakes, like all of us, but I think that there’s a balance between incidents in favour and against at the end of the season.”

There was even more controversy involving Inter because of the referee appointed for tomorrow’s game against Roma. AIA has named Simone Sozza, one of the most promising match officials in Italy who was born in Milan and came from the section of Seregno, which is only a few kilometres away from the city of Milano.

Inter host José Mourinho’s Roma at the Stadio Meazza tomorrow and Inzaghi has urged his players to forget about the derby and put the focus on the crucial game against the Giallorossi.
