Inter’s painful Derby d’Italia defeat has caused the doubts surrounding coach Simone Inzaghi to resurface, reports detail.

The Nerazzurri suffered a miserable 2-0 loss to rivals Juventus on the weekend, a result that leaves them 7th in the league table, 11 points behind leaders Napoli.

Inter have disappointed in direct clashes with the top teams, losing against Juventus, Roma, Milan and Lazio, and the heights of the Champions League turn around last month seem far away now.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera, Inter’s management may have a face-to-face meeting with Inzaghi ahead of Inter’s game against Bologna tomorrow, keen to remind him that a fourth place finish is a must this season.

The Nerazzurri cannot afford to lose out on the vital Champions League money and the pressure is starting to mount on Inzaghi, who needs to start guiding the club up the league table quickly after the World Cup break.

  1. Exactly. Board kept weakening the team while everyone else was getting stronger. What were they thinking?

  2. I get the financial concerns, but not having won ANY of those games has nothing to do with financials. Situation wreaks of psychological concerns and lack of confidence within each-other and the coach. They never recovered from the trauma of having handed over the scudetto to Milan the way that they did.
