Juventus talent Fabio Miretti discussed his idols and goals after being awarded the Italian Golden Boy award from Tuttosport.

The 19-year-old Italian midfielder is a product of the Bianconeri’s youth system and made his first team breakthrough in the latter stages of last season, starting in the last four games of the season. Miretti has continued to feature regularly under Massimiliano Allegri this season, being one of the few bright spots in the Juventus squad.

Speaking at the Golden Boy awards, Miretti expressed his admiration of former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio and highlighted his other idols and goals.

“For me it’s an honour that fills me with pride, Marchisio has always been and still is an example to follow, I would steal his nose for goal.

“I thank the club that got me here and are making me grow, spurring me on to improve. I do my best to repay Allegri’s trust on the pitch.

“I hope to do well in the Europa League too, I won a trophy at Nantes in my youth days. I watch Manchester City matches to pick up some secrets from De Bruyne.”

Marchisio, who handed Miretti the award, then complimented the 19-year-old midfielder and praised his mentality.

“For the goal, he just needs a bit of patience, because he doesn’t lack anything, from the movements to the timing of the plays. He plays more forward than me, he reminds me of Nedved.

“Having worn these colours since his childhood, he has the great advantage of knowing the weight of the Juve shirt and the Bianconero DNA.”

The 19-year-old Miretti has made 24 first team appearances for Juventus since his breakthrough last season, providing one assist in that time. He’ll be hoping to earn his first call-up to the Italian national team under Roberto Mancini in the coming months.
