Roberto Gagliardini has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, but a potential transfer isn’t only about the money as the Italian midfielder seeks more playing time than at Inter.

Gaglardini’s contract expires in June and the former Atalanta man has recently admitted that he is not willing to sign a contract extension given that he’s not getting enough playing time at the Stadio Meazza.

“I am no longer prepared to play so little, because I still feel that I am in good shape and have a lot more to give. I want to play and to make my qualities known,” the 28-year-old told Sky Sport Italia earlier in January.

Sky and Gazzetta claim Nottingham Forrest are interested in the Italian midfielder, suggesting Inter are open to discussing a potential January transfer to avoid seeing their player leave for free in the summer.

Considering Gagliardini’s recent quotes, it’s clear that the sporting project will be crucial for the Italian midfielder who will likely prioritise playing time over salary.

Gagliardini currently earns €1.5m per season at the Stadio Meazza. He joined Inter in a €22m deal from Atalanta in 2017 and has scored 16 goals in 175 games with the Serie A giants. Forest signed his former teammate at the Gewiss Stadium Remo Freuler for €9m last summer.
