Paulo Dybala says he doesn’t know what will happen next season but insists ‘the next games’ are all he’s focused on now.

The Argentinean striker is Roma‘s best scorer this season, with 12 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions. He joined the Giallorossi as a free agent in the summer of 2021. During his latest interview with Marca, he confirmed that José Mourinho convinced him to sign for the Serie A side after the end of his contract with Juventus.

“I had spoken to him on the phone before joining,” said Dybala.

“I liked his way of communicating and how he faces every training session and every game. He convinced me to join Roma. I’ve had the chance to play with the best players in the world, and now I can work with one of the best coaches.

“He lives every game in a unique way and I feel very close to this. We are similar and we are trying to help each other.”

Multiple reports in Italy claim Dybala has a €20m clause in his contract with Roma, which, however, is lower for clubs outside Serie A who can secure his signature for just €12m at the end of the season.

“Surely, we’ll talk about this later on. My future is here, I want to bring Roma as high as possible and I think we can do it,” insisted the striker.

“I don’t know what will happen in the future. The next games are the most important things.

“It’s great to help the team. We are in a good situation, fighting for a Champions League placement. It’s not easy because there are many top clubs. We are confident about Europa League, but it won’t be easy either. Hopefully, I can help the team win more games.”

Reports in the UK claim Manchester United are among the clubs interested in the Argentinean forward for 2023-24.

Mourinho has often praised Dybala this season and also said that when the Argentine is on the pitch ‘the music is different.’

“He [Mourinho] has coached many important players and he’s won a lot. I liked to hear what he said about me. He helps us a lot and makes things easier,” said La Joya.

Roma face La Liga side Real Sociedad in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16 tonight. What if they go on to win the competition?

“It would be incredible, the city would explode, almost as in Buenos Aires. Fans would deserve it and hopefully, we can achieve it,” noted Dybala.

The Argentina international was as motivated as ever when he returned to the capital in January after winning the World Cup in Qatar in December 2022.

“I’ve seen the penalties and the entire match many times,” he admitted.

“Every time I have goosebumps. It was so important for our country and our people who supported us strongly. It was amazing.”

The former Roma striker thinks Leo Messi will continue his international career after lifting the World Cup in Qatar.

“Yes, I think so. That’s what we want, obviously. He’s our captain and he means so much to us and the fans,” he concluded.
