La Gazzetta dello Sport picks Mike Maignan as the Man Of The Match in Tottenham-Milan, but slams ‘disastrous’ Spurs defender Cristian Romero.

The Rossoneri have qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in 11 years beating Antonio Conte’s Tottenham 1-0 on aggregate in the Round of 16.

No Milan player has a rating below 6/10 on today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport. Maignan was the MOTM in North London, according to Gazzetta, while UEFA awarded Fikayo Tomori at the end of the match.

The Englishman has also received high grades on Gazzetta, although his 7.5/10 is slightly below Maignan’s 8.

The France international produced a crucial save on Harry Kane in the stoppages, helping Milan keep their lead over the two legs.

Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu and Theo Hernandez were also rated 7.5/10, followed by Sandro Tonali, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao (7/10 for all of them).

Stefano Pioli received the same rating as Maignan, 8, while his Tottenham counterpart Antonio Conte was given 5.

Former Atalanta defender Romero was sent off in the second half after receiving two yellow cards and was the worst player on the pitch, according to Gazzetta. The Argentina international was described as ‘disastrous’.

“There was a feeling that he would get a second yellow card sooner or later, and he punctually received it,” wrote the pink paper.

  1. Don’t see why Maignan is Man of the Match. He made one save. Forster made two or three good saves too. I would have given it to Thiaw or Tonali.
