Antonio Conte has admitted he is open to returning to Serie A one day, but no clubs in the Peninsula seem to have the resources to hire the Italian tactician.

Conte’s contract with Tottenham expires in June and talks over a new deal in North London are stalling.

The ex-Juventus and Inter boss had thrown his Tottenham future in doubt during an interview with The Guardian in January and after Spurs’ 1-0 win over Milan on Tuesday he confirmed that he’d have “no problems” returning to Serie A one day.

Calciomercato.com analyses Conte’s options in Italy, highlighting that Juventus, which would be an obvious choice for the ex-Bianconeri midfielder and coach, are tied to Massimiliano Allegri until 2025 and that the Tuscan’s tactician position is now as solid as ever.

Juventus also face an uncertain future following a 15-point deduction which might be followed by another penalty in the coming months.

Conte’s €17m-a-year salary in North London is a figure that no Serie A club can afford at the moment. Italian sides can’t even use the growth decree to cut Conte’s gross wages by 50%, given that the Italian tactician left the country less than two years ago.

Roma could be an option if José Mourinho leaves at the end of the season, but the Giallorossi are dealing with transfer restrictions due to UEFA’s Financial Fair Play.

According to the report, a return to Inter is an unlikely option, while Milan have trust in Stefano Pioli, not to mention that the Rossoneri’s budget for new signings and their transfer strategy may not be appealing for Conte.

The future of the 53-year-old in North London remains uncertain, but there are currently not many appealing options in Serie A, despite his desire to return home one day.
