Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano confirms the club will fine Nico Gonzalez who was spotted clubbing after a 1-0 loss against Juventus on Sunday.

The Argentina international joined Igor and his ex-teammate Lucas Torreira, now at Galatasaray, at a club in Florence on Sunday, hours after a 1-0 loss against Juventus in Turin.

Fiorentina boss Italiano confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday that the Argentinean international would face the consequences, although he has already apologised to the team.

“Nico will be fined, there are internal rules. He knows he made a mistake and there are no problems now,” the coach said.

“When he is 100% fit and focused, he can give us so much and we expect this from him for the next few games.”

It is believed that Igor will face the same punishment as Nico.

The Argentinean was in talks with Premier League club Leicester City during the January transfer window. La Viola rejected an offer worth more than €30m, while Nico didn’t agree to personal terms with the Foxes mainly due to a clause allowing his new club to lower his wages in case of Premier League relegation.

Fiorentina face Portuguese side Braga away on Thursday, in the first leg of the Conference League play-offs.

“We’ve studied our opponent and we know their worth. It’s played over two legs and lasts 180 minutes, so we must handle it well,” said Italiano.

“We must be focused because any error can be costly ahead of the second leg.

“We know we are facing a team in a good moment with quality players. It’s going to be a tough game, but we want to progress to the next round,” continued the coach.

“We care about it so much, all the players have been involved and we can use players who rested against Juventus. We need a high-level performance, trying to do better than what we’ve done until now. Braga play a nice brand of football, we respect them because they play very well.”

Italiano also confirmed Pietro Terracciano would start between the sticks given that January signing Salvatore Sirigu is dealing with a minor injury.

“He [Sirigu] has a minor issue, he must get back in shape and settle in. Terracciano will play tomorrow. The transfer window is over and I no longer want to talk about it. This is our group and we want to give our best in the Conference League and in Serie A.”
