Antonio Conte believes Chelsea ‘should have done more’ against Juventus, while the Bianconeri ‘proved to be humble.’

The Serie A giants earned a 1-0 win against Chelsea at the Allianz Stadium thanks to a Federico Chiesa strike in the second half.

Juventus played a defensive game, and did allow only one shot on target for the reigning title holders.

Conte, a former Juventus and Chelsea coach, commented on the game on Sky Sport Italia.

“Juventus’ important win is the result of an exact strategy. Juventus wanted to play this kind of game,” he said.

“They didn’t concede much to Chelsea, they defended inside their own half and they were lethal with [Federico] Chiesa on the counter. They earned all three points against the Champions of Europe. They’ve regained their spirit,” the former coach continued.

Allegri is the anti-Guardiola, but both approaches defuse Chelsea

“It’s important to keep a clean sheet against an attack like the one of Chelsea. [Romelu] Lukaku had a chance in the final minutes and Chelsea could have done more. Juventus didn’t risk much and they thrived despite lack of ball possession. They proved to be humble.”

Conte lifted trophies both at Chelsea and Juventus. He won three Serie A titles and two Italian Super Cups during his three-year spell with the Old Lady and one Premier League and an FA Cup during his two seasons at Chelsea.

The Italian tactician won the fourth Serie A title as a coach while in charge of Inter in 2020-21, but he left the Nerazzurri by mutual consent at the end of the season over disagreements about their transfer strategies.

He is currently a Champions League pundit for Sky Sport Italia and according to reports in Italy, he won’t join a new club until the beginning of the next season.
