Serie A continues to prove itself as one of the most exciting and unpredictable leagues in Europe following a weekend where all of the top six teams dropped points.
The weekend kicked off with the Derby della Mole in Turin, where Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus missed the chance to consolidate their 4th place position after drawing against a fired up Torino side 1-1 at home.
Sampdoria took an important step away from the relegation battle on Saturday, beating Empoli 2-0 at home to put them 14th in the table.
Later in the day, Roma hosted Hellas Verona at the Stadio Olimpico, looking for a win in order to stay involved in the fight for European qualification. They fell 2-0 down, but second half goals from teenagers Cristian Volpato and Edoardo Love salvaged a point for Jose Mourinho.
Saturday was capped off with Milan’s trip to face Salernitana. The Rossoneri took an early lead but couldn’t relax after a quick reply from Federico Bonazzoli. Things got a little tense after Milan Duric put the home side ahead, but Ante Rebic’s equaliser allowed Stefano Pioli’s side to take something away from the game.

Atalanta travelled to Florence to face an in-form Fiorentina side on Sunday afternoon. Vincenzo Italiano’s side continued to fly high despite the loss of Dusan Vlahovic, with Krzysztof Piatek scoring the winner at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. The victory also meant Fiorentina were the only team in the top half of the table to win their match this weekend.
Venezia and Genoa drew 1-1 before title hopefuls Inter suffered a disastrous 2-0 home defeat to Sassuolo. Talented youngsters Giacomo Raspadori and Gianluca Scamacca proved their value in the match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, leaving the Nerazzurri frustrated as they missed out on a chance to return to the top of the league table.
Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio failed to take advantage of Atalanta and Juventus’ stumbles this weekend as they only managed to pick up a 1-1 draw against Udinese, leaving them 6th in the table.
Napoli had the opportunity to join Milan at the top of the Serie A table this evening had they beaten Cagliari, but they needed a late Victor Osimhen equaliser to even secure a point in Sardinia, leaving them tied on points with the Nerazzurri.
The weekend was capped off with Bologna’s important 2-1 win over Spezia. The victory has put them 12th in the table, nine points away from relegation candidates Cagliari.

actually, since ALL of the top 6 dropped points, the title race is much the same as before! Not blown wide open at all! Juve are too far back, so it is the Milan clubs and Napoli, just like before.
only one of the top ten teams won
All of the top 7 – as they were – dropped points.
Must be a once-in-a-blue-moon type of event.

You’re right about it not being blown open. It’s much as it was.
But Juve aren’t out of it yet. Bigger leads than that have been pegged back. But they’re unlikely to do it as they aren’t good enough. Their only hope is that the other 3 are nearly as bad lol.
Milan were the biggest losers since we were facing the last team on the table and simply had to win. Things could’ve been in our own hands from now on.
Correction my real team (Juventus) were the biggest losers as that is now 2 draws in a row.
All top 7 not six
In retrospect it’s a huge missed opportunity for everyone the way it played our, but really, Milan losing a lead to draw against the bottom of the table, new coach or not, is really sad from a team that has to win to remain top, knowing Inter is only theoretically behind them due to the game in hand.
It’s one of footballs real conundrums how top players allow this to happen as a team or as individuals.
Sometimes you wish you could just start the primavera and say if you win this one, kids, you start the next game too!
Looks like it can become anybodies chance now in the top-7. prInter are probably in the front runner seat, as they have only a game against Juve in Turin. Others still have 2-3 games against eachother. Glory to Ukraine and don’t support war.
It’s entertaining watching a bunch of teams try really hard to fail to win a title. Keeps things exciting.
