According to Sky Sport Italia, Axel Witsel is an option for Juventus in case Weston McKennie leaves the club.

Witsel was close to joining the Bianconeri in 2016, but the deal collapsed when the player has already arrived at the club’s headquarters to sign his contract with Juventus.

The 32-year-old has once again been offered to the Serie A giants by intermediaries and Juventus could consider his signing if Weston McKennie leaves the Allianz Stadium.

The American midfielder hasn’t convinced the Bianconeri’s new boss Massimiliano Allegri, so the club is ready to sell him for €25-30m.

According to reports in Italy, Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham are interested in securing his services, although Spurs and Juventus are not considering a swap deal involving the former Schalke 04 man and Moussa Sissoko.

Witsel is contracted with Borussia Dortmund until June 2022. He joined the Bundesliga side from Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian in 2018.

He has 11 goals in 108 appearances across all competitions with Borussia Dortmund.

  1. As much as I like Witsel, I prefer Mckennie over him. Bigger upside, more of an attacker, and Juve needs to grow the brand in the US, he is the perfect person.

  2. Should be an easy no. McKennie sale should bot be entertained for any figure under €40MM. He is under contract on manageable wage, has shown solid promise, is marketing gold and most important is a young still developing talent.

No rush to sell, unless an eye watering offer is at hand.

  3. Juventus will not easily build the brand in the US, even if they’d field the entire MLS All Star team, like the other top clubs because (most) Americans associate and identify teams with cities. And who the * wants to go to Turin over Milan, Rome, Firenze or Napels?

  4. This has nothing to do with Allegri not being convinced. McKennie belongs to the losing CR7 faction at Juve so its natural that the winning Dybala faction want him out.
