Juventus have dropped down to the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group, forcing them to take a different path in Europe this season.

The Bianconeri disappointed internationally under Massimiliano Allegri, only winning one match out of six in Europe’s premier club competition this campaign. Losses to Maccabi Haifa and Benfica were particularly punishing and Juventus have now been relegated to the Europa League, a competition that they haven’t competed in for over eight years.

Juventus’ first games in the Europa League will be the play-off matches against one of the teams that finished second in their groups. The level of competition in the tournament in high this season, giving the Bianconeri a tough task in the second half of the season.

The majority of groups still do not have defined winners, so a number of top opponents like Arsenal or Manchester United could be drawn if they ultimately finish second. 

Below is the full list of possible teams Juventus could face in the Europa League play-offs:

  • Arsenal or PSV
  • Fenerbahce or Rennes
  • Ludogorets (should Roma be eliminated)
  • Union Berlin or Braga
  • Real Sociedad or Manchester United
  • Sturm Graz or Feyenoord or FC Midjylland (should Lazio win the group)
  • Qarabaq or Nantes
  • Monaco or Trabzonspor or Red Star
