Romelu Lukaku is starting to grow concerned that he’ll be ruled out of the World Cup following his latest muscle injury.

The 29-year-old Belgian striker’s return to Inter has not gone to plan and he’s been mostly sidelined with injury since his return to the Lombardy capital in the summer. Lukaku has not started a match since August and only briefly returned to the pitch last week, playing 29 minutes of action across the Champions League and Serie A.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku flew to Belgium yesterday to understand his injury and undergo a round of medical tests, working alongside the Belgian national team’s doctors.

The Inter striker is worried that he’ll be forced to miss the upcoming World Cup in Qatar and he’s now in a race against time, with Belgium’s first game of the tournament coming on November 23 against Canada.

The Nerazzurri announced last week that the 29-year-old had suffered a strain in the myocardial scar of the femoral biceps of his left thigh.
