“I want to conquer the Champions League with Inter,” the midfielder told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I got very close to doing so in my first year with Fiorentina in 2013, but Milan took third place in a strange way.

“Juve? I’d never join them because I know what it means for a Fiorentina fan.

“I think it’ll be a five-way fight, with Juve, Roma and Napoli, all of whom have proven to be the best [Italian] teams in recent years.

“Why I left Fiorentina? Even at the start of last season, with the change of sporting direction, I sensed some unpleasant signals and that something was breaking.

“Then the certainty came in June, when Inter came forward with such insistence.”
