Juve lost their opening game of the International Champions Cup to two Neymar goals on Saturday, but Allegri made it clear he was not concerned by the result, while offering an update on Bernardeschi’s proposed arrival from Fiorentina.

“We haven’t trained all together yet,” he said after the game.

“We haven’t even had dinner all together as the four South Americans that were in Boston only joined up with us on Friday night.

“It was a good training session, I’m happy with what we did individually but we still have to grow as a team.

“It was a good test that did not complicate our season. For those who have just started working with us, it was a way to figure out where we were physically.

“The objective is to return to Italy without any injuries and prepare for the Supercoppa.

“Neymar did some good things. Besides being technically strong, they were sharper than us and got back into shape sooner.

“Playing here in New York is fascinating, it was a great show, with good technical players in both teams. The first step to take is working as a team again.

“Douglas Costa and De Sciglio were catapulted into a new reality, we’re expecting Rugani in Boston and now we’ll see if Bernardeschi arrives.

“We have a great team and there’s still work to be done, but it’s normal.”
