Roma director Tiago Pinto remains confident they are building something special with Jose Mourinho and their strategy ‘will not change’ regardless of Serie A and Conference League results.

The game with Inter kicks off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT), you can follow all the build-up and action as it happens on the LIVEBLOG.

The Nerazzurri still have a game in hand and are two points behind leaders Milan, while the Giallorossi are chasing down Juventus for fourth place.

It is a special evening for Mourinho, who returns to face the side where he won the Treble in 2010.

“The coach has to talk a great deal during the season, we are the only Italian side in Europe, so we have more pressers than others,” Tiago Pinto told DAZN.

“I heard the coach very fired up, of course he made history with Inter and it is a very special match for him, but he wants to win for Roma.”

Tiago Pinto was asked about how Mourinho and the Friedkin family are planning to further strengthen this Roma squad for next season.

“We know the most important thing is to end the season on a high, as it’s all still up in the air, we could be in the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League. We must try to win all the games we can, including in the Conference League.

“Our strategy has been clear from the first day and that will not change. When we brought in a coach like Mourinho, we were well aware his contribution would not just be on the pitch. We have professionals in every area, a strong rapport with the club owners and I see Roma improving every day.

“I have no doubts that next season we’ll have a Roma side more prepared to win than the one we inherited. When people ask about Roma two or three months ago, we’re all far more aware now of what Mourinho’s ideas are, together with the club we are building a squad and I am sure it will be much closer to victory than it was in the past.”

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be a free agent on July 1 and there were reports this week the negotiations for a new deal had slowed down, to the point that Lazio made an approach.

“I understand your questions and I don’t want to be mean, but I don’t like to talk about the transfer market before a game.

“Mkhi is important for Roma, I think we both have the same desire to move forward together, there are no problems, the player and the club have set a timeline and it’s not a problem.”
