It has also been an eventful day because Juventus saw their 15-point penalty temporarily revoked pending a new court ruling, pushing Roma down to fourth place.
“I don’t know if you have the same saying in Italy as in Portugal, but we say that we laugh so that we don’t cry,” Tiago Pinto told Sky Sport Italia.
“I am not a lawyer, so I won’t get into the legal aspects of all this. As a man of football and of sport, if we played for three months with a table that isn’t accurate, then the mechanism is wrong.”
It has an immediate effect on the table, as for now Juventus get their 15 points back and are catapulted from 44 points and eighth place to 59 points and third place.
Napoli on 75 and Lazio on 61 remain in their slots, but Roma on 56 are bumped down to fourth.
More importantly, Milan on 53 and Inter 51 drop out of the Champions League places completely.
Atalanta are further behind in that race on 49 points.
