According to La Repubblica, Juan Cuadrado, Angel Di Maria and Federico Chiesa were unhappy with Massimiliano Allegri’s tactics against Sevilla while the coach did nothing to hide his disappointment with their performances in Spain.

The Bianconeri will end up with another trophyless season after being eliminated in the Europa League semifinals at the hands of Sevilla.

Juventus had a defensive approach in the return leg at the Estadio Pizjuan on Thursday, something a few of their stars didn’t like.

Cuadrado had said on the eve of the game that Juventus “should have pressed high if the coach allows us,” but Allegri’s tactic was the opposite and saw the Bianconeri sit back for most of the game despite a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Part of the team disagreed with Allegri’s plans, claims Repubblica, including Cuadrado and Di Maria. The Argentinean put in a disappointing performance in Spain, missing a sitter in the first half. El Fideo was unhappy after being subbed off in the second half and his frosty relationship with the coach means one of them may have to leave in the summer.

Cuadrado is also expected to walk out of the Allianz Stadium at the end of his contract in June, but at least another Juventus star who does not feel at ease with Allegri’s decisions, Federico Chiesa.

The Italian has been struggling this season not only because he’s coming from a severe knee injury but also because Allegri has often used a 3-5-2 system which does not suit his characteristics.

According to Repubblica, Chiesa is expected to stay in 2023-24, but a previous report at the start of May had claimed that the ex-Fiorentina winger feels disconnected from Juventus and is considering his future at the Allianz Stadium, also due to Allegri.

The Italian tactician has two years left in his contract at the Allianz Stadium and ‘only absolved young players’ after a 2-1 loss in Sevilla, defending his tactics.
