That means whoever lifts the trophy in Saudi Arabia this evening will be the first to eight and take the crown of most successful club in the tournament’s history.

There have been 11 finalists taking part since its inauguration in 1989, but only nine clubs have won the trophy.

Inter come next on five, followed by Lazio with four, Napoli and Roma two apiece.

Fiorentina and Sampdoria each won the Supercoppa once, while Torino and Vicenza lost the showdown.

This is traditionally played between the Scudetto winners and Coppa Italia holders, but as Juventus won both for the last three years running, they have faced the losing Coppa Finalists instead.

It hasn’t favoured the Bianconeri, though, as they have lost three of the last four Supercoppa clashes.

They were beaten by Napoli and Milan on penalties in December 2014 and December 2016 respectively, then fell 3-2 to Lazio in August 2017.

In fact, Juventus have won seven editions of the competition, but also lost six.

On the other hand, Milan won seven of their total 10 participations, losing only in 1996, 1996 and 2003.
