The Italian Supercup between Milan and Inter will be played in Riyadh on Wednesday January 18, it has been confirmed.

This is the traditional clash between the Serie A winners and the holders of the Coppa Italia.

While it used to be a pre-season treat, for some years now it has tended to be scheduled in December or January instead.

The venue is the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the kick-off set for 22.00 local time, 19.00 in the UK.

There had been some dispute over the timing because the television company in Italy who hold the rights wanted to ensure it would be at primetime, which is why it starts so late at local time and is expected to end at around midnight.

Milan enter as Scudetto holders, while Inter lifted the Coppa Italia last season.

Inter also won the Supercoppa last term, defeating Juventus in extra time.
