The Rossoneri take on the double-winners in Doha on December 23, having finished runner-up to the Old Lady in the Coppa Italia last year.

“It’s the most important game of the year, because there’s a trophy to be won,” Bonaventura told Premium Sport.

Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura describes the Supercoppa Italiana against Juventus as “the most important game of the year”.

The Rossoneri take on the double-winners in Doha on December 23, having finished runner-up to the Old Lady in the Coppa Italia last year.

“It’s the most important game of the year, because there’s a trophy to be won,” Bonaventura told Premium Sport.

“We have to arrive there in top form, because we know Juventus are very tough to beat.

“We’ve done so already this season, so it’ll be even harder to do it again: we’ll definitely put in a great performance.”

Before that match, Vincenzo Montella’s side welcome Atalanta to San Siro this weekend.

“Atalanta have shown recently that they’re a very strong team, it will be a very difficult game.

“The Bergamaschi have some very good youngsters, there’s a very well run club and a very good Coach [Gian Piero Gasperini].

“They’ve managed to build something which works well, I’ve seen their games and what they show is a team with few weaknesses.

“We’ll have to prepare well and be at our best to win.”

Milan’s last game saw them defeated by Roma at Stadio Olimpico, falling three points behind the Giallorossi.

“These games are useful to give us awareness,” Bonaventura explained.

“Roma are second and if we were able to put in a performance like that then it means we’ve got ability as well as a lot of room for improvement, since we’re a young team.

“We have a desire for revenge, as will Atalanta, but were’ playing at home and we have to put in a great performance for our fans and ourselves.”
