Radja Nainggolan’s strike decided the 1-0 victory this evening after Wojciech Szczesny saved an M’Baye Niang penalty.

“It was a muscular and consistent second half. Last season we did win a few games too, but tonight was really difficult and Milan were impressive,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“What people say of Milan and their Coach is true – they are at the main table and we have to expect them there to the end.

“It’s true they started out under the radar and without the most prestigious names, but their approach of football playing from the back and then flying into spaces, which is what happened on the penalty, then we did really well to bring home a win.

“Juventus are a very strong side indeed. We first of all have to recover from the strain of tonight, see what happened to Bruno Peres and keep the team balanced, because when Juve have half a chance they score.

“It’s also important to note we kept a clean sheet for the third game in a row. The penalty was clever by Lapadula, because he flicked it away from Szczesny. If he’d flicked it towards the goal, then the ‘keeper would’ve got it.

“Our performance didn’t have quite as much quality as we’re accustomed to, but the game was played at a high tempo and that took something away from our sharpness.”

Spalletti was furious with several Rossoneri players going into the half-time break, so what happened?

“I was a little angry, as Bruno Peres was in great pain and Milan were complaining that the substitution took time. He didn’t hurt himself, it was in a clash, so it’s not exactly our fault…

“He’s going to hospital for tests.”

Finally, Spalletti was asked a very simple question: Do you fear Juventus?

“Yes. Obviously. Everyone does.”
