The construction works of Milan and Inter‘s new stadium in Sesto San Giovanni, just outside Milano, would begin in 18 months, claims the city Mayor Roberto Di Stefano.

The Milanese sides are in a hurry to build their new home and have approved a project to create it in the area of San Siro. However, construction works in Milano would not begin before 2027 as the Stadio Meazza will host the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Inter and Milan could therefore opt to move just outside the city of Milano, precisely in Sesto San Giovanni, where there is an area ready to be used for their new stadium.

“We provide the two clubs with the largest decommissioned areas in Europe, most of which have already been demolished and reclaimed, so they are ready to use,” Sesto Sam Giovanni’s Mayor Roberto Di Stefano told La Verità newspaper.

“I can’t tell you if I am already in talks with Milan and Inter, but it would be possible to lay the foundation stone in 18 months.

“The metro station of Sesto Rondò is just 15 minutes away from Piazza Duomo, Inter and Milan would remain inside the metropolitan area without even noticing it.”

Both Paolo Scaroni (Milan President) and Alessandro Antonello (Inter’s CEO) revealed last week that the Milanese sides would choose the quickest project for their new home.

  1. Do it. A stadium ready by 2025 is better than a stadium ready by 2029. That’s four years of profits.

  2. Calm down @Milan Fan this is Italy, and every other day we are hearing new nonsense about this site and that site. I doubt we will have a stadium ready by 2030. I have no idea what is even happening with Roma and this is just another example of how things are done in Italy. People can hate on the premier league but look at Tottenham’s new stadium and it was built in good timing. Too much red tape!
