Antonio Rudiger, Gleison Bremer and Nikola Milenkovic are Juventus‘ main targets to replace Giorgio Chiellini next season.

The Italy international could leave the Allianz Stadium in the summer despite a contract expiring in June 2023. Both the defender and his agent Davide Lippi have confirmed that they’ll talk to the club at the end of the season to decide on the future. Following Italy’s World Cup elimination, Chiellini could retire or move to the MLS for the final year of his career.

Antonio Rudiger is Juventus’ primary target for 2022-23. His contract with Chelsea expires in the summer and La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that he has already reached an agreement with the bianconeri. However, Il Corriere dello Sport denies that the two parties have an agreement in place. The agent of the Germany defender was also spotted in a meeting with Barcelona directors in March.

According to the report, there is still a substantial gap between Juventus’ offer and Rudiger’s request.

Gleison Bremer is also being monitored by the Bianconeri, although Inter are leading the race to sign the Brazilian defender.

The Nerazzurri have an agreement with the 25-year-old but have yet to agree to a transfer fee with Torino. Il Corriere dello Sport doesn’t mention Nikola Milenkovic, but the Fiorentina defender has also been linked with a move to Turin, although he is not Juventus’ No.1 choice for 2022-23.

The Bianconeri have already secured the services of 23-year-old Federico Gatti, who will move to Turin in the summer after the end of his loan spell at Frosinone in Serie B.

9 thought on “Juventus identify Chiellini’s replacements”
  1. I’m surprised there’s no mention of Romagnoli. He’d actually do very well in Allegri’s setup, defending deep most of the time. I know he’s not suited to Sarri’s style.

He’s also free and Italian, not to mention being represented by Raiola, Juventus‘ best buddy.

  2. They sold Romero and Demiral will be bought by Atalanta. Bonucci is no spring chicken and I would not be surprised if Raiola gets de Ligt to move on. With PhD Max steering the ship it is going to be very difficult to win the league next year as they lose Chiellini’s leadership in a team crying out for it.

  3. @Bien i completely agree. Being Italian is actually held against so many players. Rugani and Romagnoli for that matter are no exception

  4. The names I see for his replacement are no where near Chiellini’s level. It will be hard to replace him. With Juve you often see him trouncing up the field and getting involved in the attack, pressuring the opposition up the pitch, intercepting the ball or making a play. Just knows how to read the game and plays with no fear.

  5. @Lord Demiral leaving is probably the right call as he showed a penchant for the reckless tackle too often. But they messed up with Romero as they didn’t even get the profit and Atalanta got the better end of the carrot. I cannot see where the young Italians are but if they have to go for a free transfer the best bet is Rudiger. He was a beast against Real Madrid and I just hope they avoid Romagnoli. This will not be another Pirlo moment and it is better he goes to Lazio. Juventus need top draw not just Italian for the sake of it.
