It is now practically certain, as confirmed by Inter director Beppe Marotta, that Serie A will continue behind closed doors due to the Coronavirus outbreak, with Week 26 fixtures in place of Week 27.

A Government decree is expected later today ordering that all public events are either suspended or go ahead without large gatherings of people.

“Playing behind closed doors is the only way of concluding the season,” confirmed Marotta after leaving a Lega Serie A meeting with precious few representatives from the clubs attending.

The other important news is that the Serie A sides have agreed to shuffle along the fixture list, so last weekend’s postponed games – including JuventusInter – will be played this weekend, in place of the Week 27 fixtures.

They hope in this way to avoid transforming the flow of the campaign and the calendar.

“Juventus-Inter will probably be on Sunday or Monday,” added Marotta.

The games called off last weekend and which should therefore be this weekend are Juventus-Inter, MilanGenoa, Parma-SPAL, SampdoriaVerona, Sassuolo-Brescia and UdineseFiorentina.

It shuffles along the Week 27 fixtures, including AtalantaLazio, Inter-Sassuolo, Roma-Sampdoria and Verona-Napoli, to the weekend of March 15 rather than March 8.
