Inter are the new Serie A leaders and in theory have an easier run-in than Milan or Napoli, so are they the Scudetto favourites?

The Nerazzurri still have a game in hand to be played against Bologna on Wednesday, which was originally postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Rossoblu camp.

As Milan don’t play Lazio until Sunday evening, that means at this moment all the top four teams have played 33 Serie A matches.

With that situation, Inter are top on 72 points, Milan have 71, Napoli are on 67 and Juventus 63.

There is more reason to tip Simone Inzaghi’s men too, as they have beaten Roma 3-1 today and that was in theory the toughest fixture still to be played.

On the other hand, Milan visit Lazio tomorrow, they host Fiorentina, go to Hellas Verona, welcome Atalanta and conclude the season away to Sassuolo.

Napoli’s run-in isn’t reassuring either, going to Empoli on Sunday, facing Sassuolo, then Torino away, relegation-threatened Genoa at home and finish against La Spezia.

4 thought on “Serie A run-in makes Inter Scudetto favourites, as Milan face tough tests”
  1. I don’t think the title is a forgone conclusion. Everyone seems to already be counting the game in hand as a slam dunk even though Bologna haven’t lost a single game this month, including playing away to Milan and Juve. Milan’s fixtures appear to be tough on paper but funny enough Milan seem to play their best under these circumstances so it won’t surprise me if they win their remaining fixtures as well. Napoli are too unpredictable and could very well drop points in half their fixtures or win all of them.

  2. I hope fiorentina beat salernitana today as it puts Bologna & Udinese mathematically safe for next season and gonna fire up fiorentina to challenge better ranks when they meet Bilan next week . Empoli would have 2 matches to rack some points before we meet up. The challange is Cagliari & Sampdoria as they would fight for relegation after coppa final and this could be seen as potential slip up. But nonetheless, i believe the 2nd star would come. Forza Inter

  3. Actually, AC Milan’s remaining fixture is a lot easier than Inter, only having to face teams have nothing left to play for. Inter’s 3 opponents (Bologna, Cagliari and Samp) are all fighting off regelation)

The Scudetto is definitely Milan’s to lose
