Both goalkeepers were tested early doors by M’Bala Nzola and Riccardo Orsolini before Arnautovic ran onto the Gary Medel ball over the top to go round the ‘keeper.
Bastoni surprised unsighted Lukasz Skorupski from distance and his free kick completely bemused Schouten for Spezia to turn it around.
Arnautovic came to Bologna’s rescue again on Roberto Soriano’s assist, his fifth goal in as many games.
