Roma have suffered a blow with the news that Philippe Mexes is likely to be out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

The France international underwent a scan this morning after picking up a knock during Sunday night's clash with Juventus.

Mexes tweaked his knee in the first half, came out for the second against his better judgement and then had to abandon the game.

Reports claim he has torn the ligaments in his left knee and will be out for between three to four months.

Considering Roma's final game of the campaign is on May 22, Mexes faces a race against time to contribute anything more to this season.

His contract is due to expire in June and it has been widely reported that he will join Milan, although nothing official has been announced.
