Sassuolo have reportedly offered Domenico Berardi a new five-year contract as they look to tie down their talismanic forward.

The 28-year-old Italian winger had a great season last campaign under Alessio Dionisi, scoring 15 goals and providing 17 assists in 33 Serie A appearances. Berardi’s strong season, coming off the back of his impressive Euro 2020 outing, saw him attract the attention of a number of top clubs in Italy, including Juventus, Milan and Roma.

As reported by TMW, Sassuolo chairman Giovanni Carnevali met with Berardi’s agent yesterday to start laying the groundwork of a contract renewal. The Neroverdi offered the 28-year-old a five year contract, hoping to make him the true talisman of the team.

Berardi currently earns around €2m net per season plus add-ons and it’s likely that the new deal is accompanied by a salary bump as the club look to reward their key figure.

The Italian winger has spent his whole career associated with Sassuolo, despite earning a €4.5m move to Juventus back in 2013. He was immediately sent back to the Neroverdi on a two-year loan deal before he made his stay permanent.

Berardi has made 326 appearances across all competitions for the Neroverdi, scoring 121 goals and providing 84 assists in that time.
