Monza reportedly reached an agreement with Arsenal for defender Pablo Mari, who is set to undergo his medicals in Italy this afternoon.

The 28-year-old Spanish defender had a good outing in his six months on loan last campaign with Udinese, scoring one goal and showing some defensive solidity in his 15 Serie A appearances for the club. Mari returned to North London last month and was immediately placed back on the transfer list, with Mikel Arteta not including the player in his project.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal have agreed to send Mari to Monza on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy clause attached, linked to the their safety in Serie A.

The Spaniard is expected to arrive in Monza later today and will take a private flight from London to Lombardy in order to undergo his medicals this afternoon. Should everything go to plan, he’ll put pen to paper and officially join the club.
