The Omicron variant continues to tear through European football and there are new positive tests seemingly every day, even if the pace of the spread has certainly slowed down after the initial post-Christmas break surge.

The Giallorossi now have two players who are positive for COVID-19, while the Viola have three.
Notably, the Roma statement did not include the usual sentence assuring the player has ‘completed the vaccination cycle.’
It doesn’t mention a vaccination at all, suggesting it is one of the anti-vax players who has tested positive.
Chris Smalling had been against getting the vaccine at Roma, but Jose Mourinho and Sky Sports UK had both assured last week the England international had decided to accept the jab.
It is a different situation, because under the Italian Government rules, anyone not vaccinated who tests positive for COVID must stay in self-isolation for the full 10 days.
That has been cut to five days for those who are fully vaccinated.
The other concern of course is that those who are not vaccinated at at a much greater risk of complications and serious symptoms from COVID-19.
Roma’s statement claims the player is “doing fine,” but does not state he is asymptomatic, which is the usual wording used in these situations.

I think isolating for 10 days or five days is news and is relevant here except I guess to other anti ladders.
