Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has reportedly called Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic, as the Partenopei are ready to make a move for the Bosnia international.

Pjanic left Juventus last summer but has struggled to establish himself at Barcelona, who are reportedly prepared to collaborate to help facilitate a move for the midfielder.

Spalletti coach Pjanic at Roma and has, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, contacted his former player and will try to convince the 30-year-old.

Juventus have been linked with their former playmaker, but the €6m-a-year salary has been an obstacle for all parties involved.

Barcelona are, according to the newspaper, prepared to collaborate with a severance pay to make an operation possible for possible suitors.

Spalletti knew Pjanic’s future is uncertain, and the former coach gave him something to think about after the reported phone call.

Pjanic has a contract at Barcelona until June 2024, but the Catalans are hoping to get rid of his salary this summer and a return to Serie A has not been ruled out yet.
