A penalty wasn’t given, but VAR wasn’t even consulted for similar incidents in Chievo-Bologna and AtalantaInter.

Furthermore, Milan were awarded a penalty against Juventus after an intervention from VAR, though it was far from clear that Medhi Benatia’s hand ball was deliberate.

The Moroccan was on a booking when he conceded the penalty, so should have been yellow carded for deliberate hand ball, as if the hand wasn’t deliberate then the penalty shouldn’t have been given.

According to this morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport, the international break will be used to hold a meeting between officials and Coaches, with the aim of providing more clarity and precision.
