Qatar Sheikh Khalifah Bin Hamad Al Thani praised Milan on social media right after the Rossoneri’s 2-1 win over Lazio, which keeps their title hopes alive.

It was a thrilling Sunday night for the Rossoneri as a late Sandro Tonali goal at the Stadio Olimpico helped them seal a crucial 2-1 win against Maurizio Sarri’s side. The final whistle was followed by a tweet by Qatar Sheikh Khalifah Bin Hamad Al Thani who praised the Rossoneri, sharing a picture of the club’s crest.

“Time, Milan giant club,” he wrote, receiving thousands of reactions from Rossoneri fans. Khalifah Bin Hamad Al Thani has no connection with Investcorp, the Bahrain-based fund in exclusive talks with Elliott over the club’s takeover for circa €1.1 billion.

Although a few Milan fans see the tweet as a confirmation that the deal will be closed soon, Al Thani has no connection with the fund currently negotiating with Elliott.

Al Thani is a member of the ruling Al Thani Qatari royal family. He had already commented on Serie A other times this season. Back in November, he taunted Juventus asking ‘Have they withdrawn from the league?’ after their poor start to the season. On that same day, he also mentioned Napoli, sharing their crest after a 4-0 win over Lazio and adding: ‘caccia le aquile dalla capitale’, which translates into: ‘Send the eagles from the capital.’

This second message had sparked speculation of a possible takeover at the Stadio Maradona, which never materialised.

  1. They’re all getting in on it now. Any officials from Saudi Arabia want to comment? Maybe a word from the Chinese government on Milan?
