Cesare Prandelli said Fiorentina must ‘jump at the opportunities’ they get against Juventus and wants to see ‘conviction’ when the Viola attack.

Fiorentina, who currently sit 16th in Serie A, arrive from two 1-1 games against Sassuolo and Hellas Verona.

Fiorentina haven’t won away from home in the League this term but Prandelli insists he sees a change in the mentality at the Viola.

“To beat the great teams, you mustn’t only pay attention to the details, but you have to jump at the opportunities you get,” Prandelli said at a press conference.

“If we start with this mentality, we will play an excellent game.”

But Fiorentina haven’t scored in four away games, but Prandelli takes confidence from the performances against Sassuolo and Hellas Verona at the Artemio Franchi.

“Right now, we must think about how we are going to play,” he said. “In the last few matches, we have seen mentality and desire. We must keep them both.

“The two draws at home are the result of a difficult job. Sassuolo and Verona are excellent teams and difficult to face.

“When we will have the opportunity in attack, we need conviction. We are ready mentally.”

The former Italy CT said Andrea Pirlo didn’t have an easy job to reshape Juventus and claimed the Bianconeri have ‘fiercer’ competition for the Scudetto in 2020-21.

“Pirlo is building ahead,” he said. “He gave the team a new shape in two months, it wasn’t easy.

“This year, the competition is fiercer. The Milan sides are stronger and can give them trouble.”

Federico Chiesa prepares to face the Viola for the first time since his move to the Allianz Stadium but Prandelli stressed he was wary of all the Juventus attackers.

“I fear the Juventus players, including Chiesa. They are overwhelming when they attack.”

Prandelli said Fiorentina can use the match to measure their development and said the Viola are aiming to score points against the Old Lady.

“Every match is a showcase to understand where we are,” he added. “I’m convinced that we can aim to score points tomorrow too.

“The problems are there, I have changed the way of interpreting the games, we must be united and balanced.

“Even the teams that play great football never forget the defensive phase.”
