Former striker Paolo Di Canio criticises the attitude of Napoli players against Lazio: ‘They did nothing, Gattuso must be disappointed.’

The Partenopei lost their second Serie A game in a row with a 2-0 away defeat at Lazio on Sunday evening.

Even if Napoli found themselves without the likes of Dries Mertens and Victor Osimhen, Di Canio believes they should have done more to win the game.

The Partenopei lost their second Serie A game in a row with a 2-0 away defeat at Lazio on Sunday evening.

Even if Napoli found themselves without the likes of Dries Mertens and Victor Osimhen, Di Canio believes they should have done more to win the game.

“This defeat is a terrible blow for them,” the former striker told Sky Sport.

“They committed too many mistakes at the back and the behaviour of their leaders Piotr Zielinski and Kalidou Koulibaly should have been different.

“Napoli must be very disappointed, starting from Rino Gattuso,” he added.

“His best players did not give any kind of balance, Lazio did nothing special to win the game, but Napoli did nothing at all.

“As a consequence, Lazio deserved to win, but without excessive efforts. Gattuso won’t be happy. I repeat, the attitude should have been different.”

Napli have entered a retreat until the next Serie A game against Torino. They sit 5th in the Serie A table with 23 points in 13 games.
