Milan players have returned home after a morning training session at Milanello, but Stefano Pioli has sent clear signals to his players following defeats against PSV and Torino.

Milan players didn’t sleep at home last night, following a 1-0 loss to Torino and the resulting elimination in the Coppa Italia Rund of 16. The Rossoneri spent the night at Milanello and trained in the morning, returning home in the afternoon.

It was not a proper training retreat, given that it didn’t even last 24 hours, but Pioli surely wanted to send a signal to his lads who even played up to one man for more than 50 minutes during last night’s defeat to Torino.

Pioli was visibly disappointed after Wednesday’s elimination from Coppa Italia and he and his staff analysed the performance against the Granata during today’s training session at Milanello.

This is not the first time Pioli uses a mild punishment after disappointing results and performances.

The same happened at the end of December when he cancelled a day off on December 31 after a 3-0 loss against PSV in a friendly encounter.

The Rossoneri face Lecce away on Sunday and are currently seven points below table leaders Napoli who host Juventus at the Stadio Maradona tomorrow.
