Tottenham wing back Ivan Perisic and Galatasaray forward Mauro Icardi both reportedly failed to respond to a court summon for a defamation trial involving Marcelo Brozovic and Wanda Nara.

Ansa details how the case relates to a rumour allegedly spread by Fabrizio Corona that Brozovic and Nara were flirtatious during Icardi’s time at Inter, suggesting that the incident caused marriage troubles. Corona is now on trial, facing defamation charges, and his case was in the Court of Milan this week.

Perisic was called to court to testify in the trial, but did not attend due to Tottenham’s Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt. He was ordered to pay €500 and will receive a new summon date.

Icardi was summoned for a deposition and he also failed to show up. The Galatasaray striker stayed in Turkey and he did not communicate his new address to the court.

The judge, Elisabetta Canevini, asked the prosecutor to postpone the hearing to January 25, and stated that a further absence by Icardi will result in a withdrawal of the complaint, something that Corona himself wants to avoid.
