Luigi Sorrentino, the agent of Bologna forward Musa Barrow, confirmed that talks were held between him and Napoli before the club signed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 23-year-old Gambian forward had a good season last year for the Rossoblu, scoring six goals and providing seven assists across 34 Serie A games for the club. With his contract expiring in 2024, the summer was a good time for Bologna to cash in on Barrow following a strong campaign.

Speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, Sorrentino first detailed the talks held with Napoli during the summer transfer window.

“Who wouldn’t like a club like Napoli? In the summer there were some talks with Giuntoli. There was talk about the arrival of Musa before the arrival of Kvaratskhelia.

“Now that box is already filled.”

He then spoke about Bologna’s change from Sinisa Mihajlovic to Thiago Motta and how his client Barrow feels about it.

“He was delighted with the arrival of Thiago Motta, his hopes are to do well, even if with the injury he has experienced little of the new technical management. The new coach should deploy him as a striker, no longer as a winger, and this can only be good news for a player like Musa.

“Mihajlovic’s farewell, however, was difficult to digest on a human level. Sinisa intervened himself to bring him to Bologna. We were a little disappointed that they did not get to say goodbye, the coach had ended his relationship with Bologna while he was at Roma.”

Barrow joined Bologna from Atalanta on loan in January 2020, with his buy option being activated in the summer of 2021 for around €14.5m. Since his arrival at the club, the 23-year-old has scored 25 goals and provided 20 assists in 99 games across all competitions.
