Stefano Sensi discussed life at Monza following his arrival on loan from Inter in the summer, praising the work of owner Silvio Berlusconi.
The 27-year-old Italian midfielder joined the newly promoted side on loan this summer, hoping to relaunch his career after a tough few years which were marred by injury. Sensi has been able to string together a consistent run of matches since his arrival at Monza and is slowly showing glimpses of his true potential once again.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sensi first commented on if this was the calmest period of his career so far.
“Yes, because I’m playing and that’s the main thing given what I’ve been through. Monza was the best decision I could have made.”
He praised the work of the newly promoted club’s management.
“Here they give you the right push, at every level, from Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani, who put themselves on our level and make you feel at home, to all those who work for the club.”
Sensi spoke about his relationship with new Monza coach Raffaele Palladino.
“Very directly, he was clear in explaining to us what he wanted to see on the pitch. We were good at turning that into practice. It wasn’t easy for him or for us.
“We were a bit down, we reacted with more intensity in training. The important thing is that there is always performance and the right spirit. Without performance you lose in the long run.”
Finally, Sensi reflected on his time with Inter and hopes for the future.
“I remain on very good terms with Inter, I saw Zhang again and we said goodbye without any problems. I suffered that period because I often had troubles that didn’t allow me to play.
“Now the main thought if I get injured is to work and then come back, before I used to ask myself a thousand questions. When I had one relapse after another, I used to try to understand why it always happened to me, fate seemed to be attacking me.
“I realised with time that prevention is important, like working day by day taking care of the nutritional aspect. The medical air at Monza is helping me, as is my wife Giulia and the birth of my daughter Ludovica, which has changed me.”
The 27-year-old Sensi has made 10 appearances across all competitions this season for Monza, for a total of 665 minutes. In that time, he’s scored two goals.
